Why Believe In Evolution Countless millions of people around the world believe in evolution. The vast majority of these people believe in evolution solely because they were told that it was true, not because they personally thought through the logical reasons to believe in evolution. They just accepted what they were told. But some people have taken the time to think it through. They know why they believe in evolution. The primary reason people believe in evolution is that there are only two logical explanations for how the world came into existence. Either it evolved or God created it. And since they don’t want to believe in God they have no other choice except to believe in evolution. It doesn’t matter that they never found the missing links. It doesn’t matter that the complexity of the world around us argues for the existence of an intelligent designer. It doesn’t matter that it is statistically impossible for such complexity to have happened by chance. It doesn’t matter that entropy and the laws of thermodynamics tell us that the world naturally moves from order to disorder. The only thing that matters to them is that they are able to explain the world without God. After all, if God does exist and if he created this world with an intelligent design for a specific purpose, then it makes sense that he has a purpose and a plan for our lives. And if we choose to go our own selfish and stubborn way instead of joyfully fulfilling the plan God has for our lives, then we can reasonably expect that the day will come when God will judge us for our bad behavior and punish us. That’s the real reason these people believe in evolution. If they reject the idea that there is a God, then they can engage in whatever sinful behavior they want to and their consciences won’t bother them. The problem with that logic is this: What happens if there really is a God? Then He really will punish them for their bad behavior. But what about you? The chances are that you are not one of those people. But are you joyfully fulfilling the plan God has for your life? Do you have a personal relationship with God that gives your life meaning and purpose and satisfaction? Or are you going your own way, doing your own thing? Do you even know what the Bible says is right and wrong? Can you even remember the Ten Commandments? Probably not. This is why God, in his love for you, has provided a way for you to be forgiven and cleansed from your sins so you can have a relationship with him. The Bible says that Jesus is the only begotten son of God. He came into this world as a baby two thousand years ago. He was born without inherited sin and he lived thirty three years on this earth without committing a single personal sin. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. Jesus didn’t sin. And yet we know from history that Jesus did die. How could this be? The reason is that Jesus chose to die as a substitute to take the punishment for your sins and my sins. He shed his blood on the cross of Calvary to pay for our sins so we can be washed clean and be set free from the guilt of our sins. Then three days later Jesus rose from the dead and demonstrated that he has power even over death itself. What Jesus did back then has the power to transform our lives today so we can joyfully serve God and fulfill his plan for our lives. So what are you going to do with Jesus? The Bible says that as many as receive him, to them he gives the power to become sons of God. Will you receive Jesus Christ as your savior and lord? Do it today while there is still time. He will forgive you and cleanse you and give you eternal life if you will come to God through him. Back |
