Ten Commandments
I proclaim the Ten Commandments over this nation. I declare that the citizens of this nation will both know and obey these commands which were given by God’s own voice on Mount Sinai and were written with God’s own finger on the tables of stone. God has never rescinded these commands nor has he changed them. And we are responsible to know them and to obey them and we will suffer the consequences if we do not.
- I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me.
- You shall not have any idols. Do not make any images of anything and then bow down to them or serve them.
- Do not use the name of Jehovah in vain or casually or in a joking manner. Do not hurt his reputation by your words or deeds.
- Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Do not work on that day.
- Honor your father and your mother.
- Do not murder.
- Do not commit adultery.
- Do not steal.
- Do not bear false witness or commit perjury.
- Do not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.
