TRUE CHRISTIANITY
True Christianity is primarily a love relationship with God. Church attendance, responding to an alter call, praying a prayer, being baptized, donating to charity, etc. are all good things. But if you don't have an ongoing, deepening, love relationship with God that makes life full, rich, meaningful and abundant; a relationship that gives you a sense of purpose and fulfillment, then you have missed the very central element of true Christianity.
God loves us and wants us to respond to and enjoy His love. But most people, even those of us who attend church regularly, are not experiencing this kind of love relationship.
Why? Because of sin. Sin separates us from God. But for most of us in America our conscience doesn't bother us anymore. We have no conviction of sin because we have sinned so much for so long that our conscience has ceased to warn us of the serious danger we are in.
We must repent before it is too late. Jesus said "Unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish." Please don’t misunderstand what Jesus is saying. This is real. You could be cast into the Lake of Fire to be tormented forever and ever. You must acknowledge your sin and seek forgiveness from God before it is too late.
If you will take this first step and acknowledge your need, then God will show you the way of escape. That escape is through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. You see, sin has a penalty, just like an earthly crime has a penalty associated with it. The penalty for sin is death. That is why Jesus died. He is the sinless Son of God, who because of His love for you died as your substitute and paid the penalty for your sin. His sacrifice paves the way for you to begin to experience that love relationship which God created you for.
And how can a person tell that we love God? Jesus said “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” A true love relationship with God means that we submit our will to His will. And it is in that place of full surrender and total abandonment to His will that you will discover the abundant life that Christ promised.
When we first trust Christ as our Savior, we are adopted into the family of God. We are regenerated by His Spirit. We are made alive in Christ Jesus and for the first time we can say that we have been born again into the family of God. It's a free gift and it's available right now. Won't you ask Him today to save you from your sin? Pray right now and ask Him to save you and He will cleanse you and make you a new creation.
